Privacy Policy

Effective / last updated: 1 June 2026

This Policy describes how Akshay Managooli (Bucky) (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Bucky mobile app in its free, local-first public release.

Your financial data stays on your device. No Bucky account is required for this release. We do not sync or store your accounts, balances, transactions, bills, budgets, goals, loans, or investments on our servers in this version of the app.

1. Who we are

Data controller: Akshay Managooli (Bucky).

Privacy / grievance contact: enquiry.akshaymanagooli@gmail.com

App: Bucky (personal finance). Website: https://bucky.amshotzz.com/

2. Local-first design (this release)

Bucky is designed so your money picture lives primarily on your phone or tablet:

  • Encrypted on-device database (SQLCipher) for accounts, cards, transactions, bills, loans, investments, budgets, goals, and related finance data.
  • Device Keychain / Keystore stores the database encryption key, protected with biometrics or your device passcode where available.
  • Optional local backup and restore files that you export and keep wherever you choose (for example on the device or in your own storage).
  • No Cloud Sync for finance records in this free public release — encrypted cloud backup and cloud account features are not offered in the product UI.

3. Information we process

3.1 Information that stays on your device

Finance records you enter, app preferences, biometric unlock settings, and local notification schedules are stored on your device. We do not receive copies of your exact balances, account names, or transaction details as part of Cloud Sync in this release.

3.2 Information processed after you accept this Policy

Before you accept the Privacy Policy and Terms in the app, Analytics and Crashlytics collection are off. After you accept:

  • Usage Analytics (Google Firebase Analytics) — pseudonymous events such as screen views and feature usage. We configure the app to avoid advertising ID collection. Event parameters are sanitized so exact money amounts and similar sensitive strings are not sent.
  • Crash / diagnostic data (Google Firebase Crashlytics) — reports that help us fix crashes and reliability issues (for example error messages and limited technical context such as screen or action labels).
  • Legal consent receipt — a minimal record that you accepted the current Policy/Terms versions (timestamp, document versions, app version, platform, and a device consent identifier). This may be stored on-device and also sent to our Firestore collection for audit purposes without requiring a Bucky cloud account.

3.3 Optional personalized insights

If you turn on “tips tailored to you,” we may send broad financial health ranges only (for example savings-rate buckets like “10–20%”, not exact balances or account names) as Analytics user properties. This option defaults to off. You can turn it off anytime in Settings → Privacy & Data.

3.4 Optional app feedback

If you submit App Feedback, your rating, category, comments, and basic device/app metadata may be stored on-device and uploaded to our Firestore inbox so we can improve the product. Please do not include account numbers, passwords, or other sensitive identifiers in feedback.

3.5 Device permissions

  • Camera / photo library — only if you attach images to records.
  • Notifications — only if you enable reminders (scheduled locally on device).
  • Biometrics / device unlock — to protect access to your encrypted finance database.

4. What we do not do in this release

  • We do not require account creation to use Bucky.
  • We do not sync or host your finance database on our servers.
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not use your finance data for advertising.
  • We do not collect payment card numbers through Bucky for this free release (there is no in-app subscription purchase flow in this build).

5. Third parties

We use Google Firebase (App, Analytics, Crashlytics, and Firestore for consent receipts and optional feedback). Processing may occur on Google infrastructure outside your country. See Google’s Firebase terms and data processing terms for details.

6. Retention

  • Finance data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Analytics and Crashlytics retention follows Google Firebase defaults and our product needs for reliability.
  • Consent receipts and feedback we receive are retained as needed for compliance, support, and product improvement, then deleted or anonymized when no longer required.

7. Your choices and deletion

  • Decline the Privacy Policy / Terms — you cannot use the app beyond the consent screen.
  • Turn off personalized insights in Privacy & Data.
  • Delete Local Data in Privacy & Data (or the Hub danger zone) to wipe finance records stored in the app database on that device. This does not delete backup files you previously exported, nor uninstall the app.
  • Uninstall Bucky to remove the app and its local storage from that device.
  • Contact us at the email above for privacy requests we can reasonably fulfil for data we hold on our systems (for example feedback or consent receipts).

8. Children

Bucky is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

9. Future features (Cloud Sync / Bucky Pro)

We may later offer optional encrypted cloud backup, subscriptions, or related features. If we do, we will update this Policy (and the in-app policy version), and material changes will require you to review and accept again before continuing.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above will change, and the app may require re-acceptance when the in-app policy version is bumped.
